CUSTOM PROJECTS
Science that speaks for itself.
Whether you need an illustration, animation, or infographic, every project at Lectotype starts with the same questions: what does your audience need to understand, and what is the most direct, accurate way to show it? The format follows the science, not a template, not a format menu.
The result: A visual your audience can trust and act on, without a caption, a slide full of text, or a second read.

ARTWORK LICENSING
Use existing work for your project.
Not every project requires something built from scratch. If an existing illustration from the Lectotype portfolio fits your needs, you can license it directly for use in your publication, presentation, or educational materials.
Licensing covers a defined scope of use agreed on at time of purchase.

PROCESS
How every project works.
One consistent process across all deliverable types. You always know what stage your project is at, what is expected from you at each step, and when to expect the next milestone.
01
Concept Development
This is where we define the core concept and structure: accuracy, messaging, hierarchy, and flow. It is the most critical stage of the process. Getting it right here is what prevents headaches later.
02
Production
With the concept approved, we move into building out the visuals in full. This phase is about refinement and execution, bringing the direction to life with precision.
03
Handoff
We wrap up, deliver your final files, and make sure you feel confident using everything. No loose ends, no confusion. Just a clean handoff.
FAQs
How far in advance should I reach out?
Projects are typically booked 1 to 3 months in advance. If you have a specific deadline, the earlier you reach out, the better. Projects can take several months to complete and often require additional information before a start date can be confirmed.
Do you offer payment plans?
I request 50% before the project begins and 50% on completion. If alternative arrangements are needed, indicate this in the questionnaire.
I don’t see work representing my topic in the portfolio.
The case studies are a representative sample, not a complete record. The core principles of every project — accuracy, clarity, and visual problem solving — apply regardless of specific topic or style. If you're looking for something you do not see, reach out. I've likely worked on something similar, or I am open to the new challenge.
IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?
Who this work is for, and who it is not.
This is the right fit if you…
Need to explain complex ideas clearly to a specific audience
Work in medicine, veterinary science, research, biotech, conservation, or science communications
Care about scientific accuracy and visual precision
Want a visual solution, not just a polished image
Value a collaborative, structured creative process
Know that effective visuals increase engagement, trust, and understanding
This probably is not the right fit if you…
Are looking for generic stock art or clip-art-style visuals
Need the lowest-cost option rather than the most effective one
Are not open to collaboration or input on visual strategy
Want a one-size-fits-all approach rather than tailored work
Need a turnaround that does not allow for a proper process
